Glossary
Key terms every MSA should know cold.
C
Chargeback
When your signup bonus is taken back because a customer cancels before their first billing date. Always make sure customers genuinely want the membership to avoid this.
Conversion Rate
The percentage of customers you interact with who sign up for the Unlimited Club. Used to measure your personal performance and determine team bonus eligibility.
Cross-Grade
A benefit for interior plan members. If you don't want your interior cleaned on a given visit, you skip it and automatically get upgraded to the next higher exterior package for free instead.
E
Efficiency
Your personal conversion rate — how many memberships you sell out of all the customers you interact with. You need to hit a minimum efficiency to qualify for the Team Bonus.
EXT (Exterior)
Shorthand for exterior-only Unlimited Club plans. No interior cleaning included. EXT BP = Exterior Basic Plus, EXT AE = Almost Everything, EXT EV = Everything, EXT GR = w/ Graphene.
F
FastPass
A physical pass attached to a vehicle when the license plate can't be read by the LPR system. Allows the member to still use the Unlimited Club lane without their plate being scanned.
I
INT (Interior)
Shorthand for interior cleaning Unlimited Club plans. Includes exterior wash plus interior cleaning add-on. INT BP, INT AE, INT EV, INT GR are the four tiers.
Interior Cleaning
A quick vacuum and wipe-down service included with interior Unlimited Club plans. Not a full detail. Covers carpets, windows, dashboard, console, door panels, and steering column.
L
LPR (License Plate Recognition)
The camera system that reads a member's license plate as they pull into the Unlimited Club lane. It identifies them as a member and opens the gate automatically — the whole process takes about 6 seconds.
Loaner Vehicle
A temporary vehicle given to a member while their car is being serviced. Members can wash their loaner at Jax but must show loaner paperwork to a manager first.
M
MSA (Membership Sales Associate)
Your role! You're responsible for signing customers up for the Unlimited Club, explaining plans and benefits, and hitting conversion goals at your location.
R
Residual Bonus
A monthly bonus you earn for every active membership you've sold. As long as the customer stays a member, you keep earning a small amount each month. Rewards long-term performance.
S
Signup Bonus
The one-time bonus you earn when a customer signs up for the Unlimited Club. Amount varies by plan — interior plans pay more than exterior plans. Paid weekly.
T
Team Bonus
A monthly bonus earned when your site hits its conversion goal AND you personally meet your minimum efficiency. Ranges from $75–$225 depending on site type and performance level. Part-time MSAs earn 50%.
U
UC (Unlimited Club)
Jax's membership program. Members pay a monthly fee for unlimited washes at any Jax location. No contract — cancel anytime online. The main product you're selling.
Unlimited Club Lane
A dedicated lane for Unlimited Club members at Jax locations. Members pull in, their plate is read by LPR, and the gate opens automatically. No stopping, no payment needed.
V
Vacation Hold
A feature that lets members pause their membership while they're away or storing their car. Minimum 30 days, maximum 9 months, once per year. Members manage this themselves at jaxkarwash.com.
Vehicle Transfer
Moving a membership from one license plate to another. Members can do this up to 4 times per year — useful if they get a new car or want to switch which vehicle the membership is on.
